Default Photoshop newbie

Hello all, I recently posted this photo of an elephant from a visit to the zoo. I also recently got photoshop elements and have spent the last week trying to learn to use it. Here is the first one I like from it.

This is the original shot
Elephant

This is the pp'd shot.
Elephant

Looking for some honest critisism on this work.

Great job! You're a much quicker learner than me. I'm also learning PS, although it's a very, very slow curve. Love the elephant too, by the way.

Hi Michael - my goodness - you are a fast learner .. I like what you did .. now, instead of the black background, why don't you change it to the front of your home ... just for fun ... excellent pp work

That's nice choice of color for the background Micheal.. I just picked up Photoshop CS2 Book by Scott Kelby last week from a library, i've gone through few pages and found it very useful... its like very oraganised collection of articles on how to do in photoshop.. that's what makes it very fast and easy.. there few more books by him which are pretty popular too but i've seen them yet..
