Hanson (yes, the MMMBop band)

Hanson took a walk from Belmont to Vanderbilt today to raise awareness of poverty and AIDS in Africa. I covered it for the paper, and ended up circling campus two times on foot before I finally intercepted the group. They had about 250 people following them on their walk. Here's some selects from the event.









During the performance I kind of just walked in through the back and sat down in front of the band... no one asked to see credentials or said anything to me at all actually. I think the 500 people behind me who were all taking pictures didn't like me very much...

Were they barefoot?

They usually walk barefoot as an expression of the fact so many poor don't have shoes, but I don't know if they did during the cold!


Despite their teeny bopper past, they have become highly respected within the indie music scene, and do a LOT for charities and to help indie musicians. I have a lot of respect for the things they do, and many really good musicians are now fans of their current music because of their talent. It's a huge change from MmmBop!

Thanks guys! NetG, they did walk barefoot (most of the people following them did too). I actually have a few shots of their feet, but these were more interesting for the time being lol.
