Default Fall Color or Lack Thereof ... my 500th post

I've been trying to decide all day what to put up for my 500th post. I finally settled on these two: the first because a few months ago, before stumbling upon DPS, I would have never been able to create this photograph, not because of a technical lack, but because of a creative lack. The comments, the critics and the encouragement from the DPS family is unparalleled in my experience. But more than that, is the inspiration of seeing how so many different people see the world. And in light of that, the second photograph is one that I am inclined not to post, because my personal reaction to it is that no one will like it. But sharing is what photography is all about, even if no one else sees the world through my lens.

Thank you all for so much inspiration.

Congratulations on 500 Martha. I echo all that you say about DPS and I too have been encouraged, in no small part by your kind and motivating comments. Two great shots that are perfectly chosen for the occasion. Rock on, the next 500! God bless. PAUL

Martha, congrats on your 500th post. I sometimes feel the way you have on thinking "oh nobody will like it" Well photography is an Art, a way of expressing yourself. No two people look, see and shoot the same and that is what is unique. I personally like both of these shots. They have Martha written all over them. Good Job!

I really like both shots but the second really stands out for me. The sharpness of the water droplet vs. the softness of the leaf, It has a quality that I just can't put my finger on. Oh well, it's just darn good.

Hello Martha, congrats on reaching 500. I have always enjoyed your posts and your comments on my threads. These two photos are just fantastic in B&W. Love the second one. Here's to a great future here on DPS, a really great site for lovers of photography.

Congrads on 500 Martha !!

It's good to see you jumping right in with some very artistic images.. there's alot ways to approach photograhy and one of the most difficult ( least for me ) is having confidence trying something different or creative and just putting it out there for people to see, hoping they " get it "

And I think that's why DPS is so cool for alot of us.. we don't always share the ones we know are good.. sometimes we share the risky ones, I know I do...just to get some reaction, my friends and family sometimes frustrate me more then help, and having some fellow photog addicts take a look and leave a little comment fuels the fire.

However , in regards to your contributions for your 500th this really doesn't apply because
neither of your two for this post are risky and anyone who views them would " get it " ...

I really enjoy viewing your posts and I appreciate your comments on mine... I hope we get to read and comment many more thousands,

Vin
