Cool Capturing the arc-sparks

There was some arc-welding going on at my house today. A couple of guys came to fix iron window grills. It was only when they started that I realised it would be insane to miss this opportunity.

I didn't have time to take safety measures for myself, properly compose the shots or try different camera settings so I went into the aperture mode and starting shooting the fireworks from a distance of just 1m.

The arc-welder was doing his job on the first floor and the sparks were falling into the side corridor on the ground floor. Below are a few of the shots I took; hope you like them.

Needless to say:

PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS THE WAY I DID.
Make sure you have taken all the necessary precautions to prevent any accident or fire.

Great shots - I love the little explosions as the sparks hit the ground.

First off, that first shot is pretty cool!

Secondly, didn't they do anything to protect what ever was below them? You can't have sparks flying around like that. That is what they make welding blankets for. Let us know if you still have a home tomorrow.
