Default Gargoyle and Other Architectural Elements

I shot these from the roof of the Georgia Hotel. I am intrigued by the various embellishments that old and new buildings have adorning them. The first shot has gargoyles on a relatively new building across from the Hotel Vancouver. The second shot showcases gargoyles from the Hotel Vancouver. I included the last two shots to provide context for the second photo. I felt the last two photos gave you a sense of scale I was somewhat lucky with the light that day. Enjoy.

Very cool! They really are quite big too - and I'm intrigued by how/where they were placed as well - quite a dramatic setting in the 2nd case. Gargoyles always fascinate me. Great lighting too, I agree.

I agree that the Hotel Vancouver provides an old context, and more befitting this kind of application. Yet, I am happy to see that they are fusing the old with the new, such as in the first shot/ building. I appreciate your input, your insights, and you thoughtful comments, Nicky! Take care.

I really like the last one, very Gothic looking Capture. Perhaps the Gargoyles weren't carved, they just sleep there during the day! Go back at night and see if they are still there. l.o.l
Thanks for sharing these
Michael.

Hey Mike. Glad you liked the set. I am too poor to afford a nice juicy L series lens and the adaptors so i could get out about 400-650mm. So, a guy has to do what a guy has to do...Work within his limitations. One day I will splurge for the above, and get nice details from distant objects. Take care.

Hi Michael. I never even thought of that. I have good access to this work site, and maybe I could camp out on the roof to check it out! Nice!

Hi Bernz. Thanks for the cudos. I agree that B&W is fitting for this subject, but then I am very partial to B&W. Take care.

I am glad that you enjoyed having the second two shots to provide scale, Ian. For me it was important to provide the context with the details as it makes the whole "story" real.
