Default Interesting Old Fence

I've just finished editing this one. I had actually passed right by this little section of fence on my way somewhere and just had to take a few steps back and capture the shot. Please let me know what you think.

Any feedback would be really appreciated. Thank you.

I think the fence is too old and quite messy there! Maybe because of the angle, If you shot it on the different angle, please add more!
Thanks for sharing

Do you guys think there's too much going on in the shot? I'm new at this so I'm not sure if there's a certain "photo etiquette" or something like that, hehe.

Hi newt. Yes there is a lot going on, and you have to look at and through the foliage to get your eyes on the fence. But hey, that's the way it was, and the camera has recorded it. Anyone other than a photographer would never notice it was even there. Well recorded and shared. Thanks. PAUL

The beauty of photography (or any art form) is that everyone is able to have his/her own opinions about things - what one person chooses to capture, another may walk past. Nobody is right or wrong. This caught your eye & that's the most important thing - YOU wanted to record it! It was a cool find, a little hidden gem that tells a story of some kind - maybe abandonment :-(

You could also try doing some PP with it & see if you like it in different forms - B&W, some soft focus, selective color etc etc.

I actually did try it in black and white, and found the details got too washed out. I brought out the colors and upped the contrast. I also played with the shadows and highlights. Unfortunately I only have a point and shoot so the original is pretty dull and flat looking.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. It helps a lot as I am new at it, and my style is sort of different.

Hey Newt .. first off I'm glad you joined in here, it's a great place to share and learn from a great community of individuals .. I really enjoyed the fact that you did a double take and shot what caught your eye, it's something that's become an addiction for me .. Big time .. This forum is intended to be a no harm, no foul place where you post with abandon and people either sharer their enjoyment or not (hopefully through refrain) .. Critique is meant to be held in other areas of this great site so you can post there to learn and interact in detail .. all that said, I see your interest here .. for me it's the fall foliage, hard iron and cool old wood of the fence .. I like the mix .. post more and often!
