Default The birthing pool

I met a beautiful couple on the trail .. we chatted about the area and they informed me my destination has history! It was a birthing pool used by the native Iroquois locals back 500 years plus .. I've been here before and shared my shot, this is the first fall run ..

You go past the red barn

ochre barn

walk a ways up the trail

bruce trail to silver creek

Go past the little fall

side fall

And you end up at the birthing pool ..

Sweet! I love the last two. The tree looks almost alive in the third one like it's guarding something. And I love th Norman Rockwell feel of the last with the flowing water...although he didn't paint water, the flowing water looks like they could be some of his brush strokes. Can't quite put my finger on it, but fascinating.
Thanks for sharing.

Many people are giving birth underwater now, saying it's less stressful for the baby. They did try it here but it didn't catch on, too many complaints from the other swimmers.
An excellent selection Ian, I like them all, but the final one is my favourite and no offence to the native Iroquois

Great story, Ian and I enjoyed the trip. Your last shot is my favorite and I love the perspective on it. I like the gnarled roots on the third and the first two are no slouch either. Great series!

What a beautiful and interesting post Ian! What a great old barn and the path ways and water fall, covered in Fall folege is just Beautiful! If I had been an Iroquoi, I would shoot for a summer delivery, could get kind of cold in the winter there.
Thanks for sharing these

Gosh, those are all beautiful. I could see the barn antique'd also. The waterfall and the fallen leaves are really pretty. Very nice set/story...and I agree...summer birth...water looks quite cold!
