Default Short Hike in the Cascades

Last month, I went out to Seattle for a short visit. I found a nice "out and back" hike in the Cascades. The "out part" was mainly uphill, and the really nice views were supposed to be at the halfway point, at the top of a ridge. At the last minute, a friend decided to come with me.

Well, he unfortunately wasn't up for the challenge, and we turned around after about 45 minutes - long before we reached the ridge. I'm still pretty mad at him!

It was rainy, foggy and cloudy, though, all of which made for settings much different that what I see here in Florida. Here are 2 photos from that "way-too-short-of-a hike" hike.

Thanks for looking.

Stunning photos. At least you still managed to get some great shots! Forgive your friend ;-) You now know to just leave him behind unless you borrow a pack mule to carry him!

Thanks for the comments, miss v. As a quick FYI, the road in the second one is Interstate 90.

Ha! I thought about leaving him behind, but that would've been too cruel, and I would've felt too guilty - he was really struggling. And, we've been friends since 1983, so I can't really hold a grudge against him. Thank you for the feedback.

Seattle is a beautiful area and would be a photographer's paradise were it not for the persistent rain

We honeymooned in Washington, near the rain forest. I've never seen trees or mountains that majestic. You photos, beautiful on their own merit also serve to remind me of a lovely time. Thanks, Chip. PS I did have a "huh?" moment when I read the title and saw your name. Chip? Cascades?

You're right about that, Patrick. It's still a beautiful place, even in the rain.

Thanks, moi. Yep - I'll now just need to make a point of going back and finishing that hike.

Hayward - Thank you. The trail head is a few miles from and a bit higher in elevation than the interstate. I don't know how much we climbed, but it wasn't as much as it appears in the photo.

Glad to spark a memory or 2, Linda. As for the "huh?" moment, I just try to keep you on your toes!

You learn to love the rain though. It makes you appreciate the sun that much more.
