Yesterday my daughter and I went to the lake we go to in the summer while my son was at soccer practice. It was late afternoon, and the light was soft and subtle, slightly melancholy. The docks have been pulled into shore and the life guard stands are like lonely sentinels, guarding the hope for a new summer. I saw glimmers of some of the beautiful, thoughtful photography I am inspired by in threads here, and I tried to do the inspiration justice.

You did very well Martha...this is a lovely set....sort of melancholy like you said. Not a bright shiny day, but reality for sure.

I love these pictures. The color composition is great! The first picture of the lifeguard chair leaves me wanting for more, maybe it would have been a little more interesting as an aridondak (sorry for the spelling..) chair.

Nice set, Martha! I love the first one. Amazingly soft! Great bokeh in the rope shot! After looking again at the first shot, I saw the excellent depth...off to the right, you can see the out of focus...then just in front of the stand, the leaves are slightly less out of focus, then leading you back to the stand. Wow! Very nice set!!
