Default Creepy-Crawlie

I found this bug clinging onto a blade of grass, by the canal. I had some very curious stares from people in their canal boats while taking this photo.
I must have looked a very odd sight - crouching down on the tow path in the dirt.

I don't know what it is either. At first, I thought it was a hover fly, but they tend to be on the move and hardly rest at all. This bug just sat clinging to the blade of grass.
