Default whaperture?

I'm always amazed at how much I don't know when working with my camera.
This was a very funny picture because the sunlight comes through my window at this very weird angle, and I thought "wow, if I could isolate the background on camera, that would be so cool".

Innocently, I thought I'd start at ƒ32.
Looked at the LCD screen: nothing!

I ended up getting what I had envisioned at ƒ8.
But I had a lot of fun!

What a beautiful shot! You really used the available light to your advantage! The background dropped out just enough. Thanks for sharing this one!

Well, I hope I taught myself something in the process!
Who knows when it'll be sunny again so I can find out...

I still struggle a lot when choosing the right aperture, but I try to believe that's mostly because I only shoot indoors (right now).

That's what I love about Digital Photography, just keep shooting and playing around with the settings and if you follow a few fairly simple rules, you'll get the shot. You learned a lot taking this shot and it paid off with a Wonderfully lite and composed shot.
Thanks for Sharing this
Michael.
