Default A Fe More Gulls

Here are a few more photos of gulls from last weekend:

Gulls 3

Gulls 1

Gulls 2

I had a few issues with the manual focus and DOF on this old lens, but it sure was fun trying to take photos of moving targets with it. Practice, practice, practice.

Thanks for looking.

P.S. Sorry for the typo in the title. Gotta practice my keyboarding, too.

I love the first one! Great comp with 4 birds perfectly framed...sharply focused, too! Well done! At second look, each of them is in a different phase of their wing flap...very cool!!

Thanks! I definitely got lucky with that first one.

Thanks very much, Hayward. As I'm sure you know, it's both fun and frustrating to use old glass on things like this.

Thanks very much, leona. These gulls were hovering and diving quite a bit, so I many chances to work on my timing.

Steve - Thanks! Isn't much better than being out by the water on a nice day with a camera.

Action shots with a manual lens? You've got to be kidding me! So the first obvious comment would be they're in focus! Jeepers, Chip. I'm really impressed. The one gull I especially like (best in the original size) is the gull at the bottom of your last shot who is grabbing his catch from the water. The angle, sharpness and feeling of motion is just great!

Linda - Thanks. I went out with the intention of taking some low light photos with a tripod. So, I took just 2 manual lenses that I thought would suit the situation. Got there early, and these gulls were flying around. I had to try, right? Of the roughly 95 or so gull photos I took, the odds were in my favor that at least some would be in focus. Thanks again.

Agreed! Delete is my friend, but I haven't yet figured out how to change a title once it's been posted. Any suggestions?

And thank you for your comments.
