Default More marine fish

Hi All,

I got down to the aquarium the other day and took a few more shot's of the latest tank mates. They are all SOOC.

Nemateleotris decora.

Odonis niger.
Odonis niger

I'm fairly sure this is a juvenile Pterois volitans.
Pterois volitans???

Hope you like them!

Thanks.

Yeah, the trick with tanks is to get as close as you can to avoid reflections. I wasn't quite close enough with the decorus as you can see the shop window reflection top left. I was using my 35mm. A nice 60mm macro would get me in a bit closer

Hi Free
These are some great shots. I tried taking pics the other day of our ple-cost-a-mus (dont know how to spell it LOL) aka our pleco. Didnt come out as great as yours! I love the last pic of the juvenile Pterois volitans. Ouch and check out the teeth on the purple fish!!

Hi Michelle,

I've had a few plecos in my time, you got the spelling close and your pronunciation is a bit wrong, it's plecostomus - sounds like pleco-stow-mus (or plico-stow-mus for kiwis )

It's usually a bit easier to shoot marine tanks than fresh because the lighting is (usually) a lot stronger. I've found the best way to get good shots of tanks with fairly low light is to diffuse the flash with some kitchen paper and put the lens flush up against the glass to stop the flash reflecting on the glass. You can see some pics of my old rifty's taken with a point and shoot with this method here

Also, I have been corrected (just in case any fish nerds get on board) it's a Pterois antennata not Pterois volitans. I thought there was something not quite right

Cheers
