Default Shags in Manukau Harbour

Imagine... standing on a 12 foot dinghy in the middle of the Manukau Harbour trying to take a hand held picture of some Shags on a rope. I got the desired photo, but so you get a feel for where they were and how the pic was taken have a gork at the first pic. Hope you all like them.

Hi Michelle

Do all Kiwi DPS members work for the NZ tourist board or is it just some plot to lure back for visit no 7.
I have family over there & have not visited since Feb 2004.

I sure you had no problem in the boat - you Aucklanders own more boats per head of population than any other major city in the world.

Great captures - I like the first one

LOL - no, I dont work for the tourism board - I actually work for the local charity Rescue Helicopter dealing with donations etc. Photography is a personal hobby. Wouldnt surprise me with the boat per head of population thing but it is a good way for my husband to relax after a hard week's work

These pics were taken on what my husband dubbed our "national geographic" day as he had lots of things planned for me that day to take photos - gotta love him!!

Michelle I would have been worried if I was standing up in a dingy - you are very game to do it but it has proved to be well worthwhile. Great capture. Cheers, Bernz

Thanks Bernz. It was just a matter of getting the sea-legs right with balancing from one leg to another with the swells. But for a hand held pic on my trusty Nikon, I too think they turned out good. Am pretty chuffed with myself.

Not only are these brilliant concidering you were doing a balancing act while taking the photos but the composition in the first shot especially is wonderful. On the way home from Auckland yesterday I took a photo of a black shag but it didn't turn out that good. TFS
