Default "The Door"

THE DOOR

Who, when the doors of industry close,
And adopt a redundant pose,
Will ever walk through them again?

A mouse?
A rat?.
A moth?
A knat?
Or merely the wind and rain?

Never a miller, a joiner, a smith,
for these will it's hinges creak.

More likely a squatter,
A vandal,
A theif,
With no love for the secrets it keeps.

PRB. Oct 2009

Yet another door on a derelict barn near where I live, that inspired me to write this tribute to it. Writing tributes to doors??? Am I going crazy? If so, bring it on! Hope you like it. God bless for now. PAUL

PS. Thanks Mike for the inspiration and encouragement. PRB

Great picture and poetry - I cannot help but be impressed by those of you who can express feelings with both images and words.

I like this shot. And the prose is perfect for it.

I just love finding cool old doors and windows like these. So much to wonder about it.

Yes, you don't need much imagination to ponder on both who built it and who has walked through it. If only they could speak. GBFN. PAUL
