Default a few shots with my point and shoot camera

We were taking the younger girls out for the day and my wife
expressly forbade me from bringing along the camera gear so I slipped in my point and shoot and dropped it into my pocket.....ok, I did tell her I would leave the gear but I WAS going to at least have something available to shoot the girls if the situation warranted and of course, there were several situations where she in fact asked me to take pictures.....so Daddy's not so dumb after all huh? We took them to our local children's museum and then over to the Arboretum to walk their trails.......These shots are taken at the arboretum. It was this little camera that turned me on to photography......It is interesting how my standards have elevated.....Most of these shots are a bit soft for my taste and I had to elevate the colors a bit. But it does a nice job for such a little thing.

Now that's what I call a true dedicated photographer. These are brilliant. P&Ss are great little cameras not just for slipping into the pocket behind wife's back, lol but also for taking fantastic shots like these. I love the second and last ones and you captured your daughters having fun really well.

..these are really inspiring Patrick..great shots from P&S especially the macro..i do love my point and shoot and it does have its advantages, however, as you pointed out, there are few technical details that are compromised..guess i need to hone my PP skills and at least make the best of it..tnx for sharing..

Wait a minute. You get shots like these with a point and shoot? Wow! That's just too cool. Did you always get shots this good...or are you bringing a new awareness of composition to your little P & S? That would be an interesting thread...hmmm? Great compositions, all!

These are very impressive for a point and shoot, Patrick, but then my brother always told me it's not the equipment, but the operator! Thanks for sharing these.

The composition thing is something I think you just see as a talent or seeing opportunities where others do not. Some of it can be trained like the rule of thirds etc. This camera turned me on to photography and I always got shots like this and then I had people saying that I had a talent and then I kept wanting to do things that were not possible with a point and shoot so then a dslr came into the picture. I have only had the dslr since February and have been self taught through places like this. also what really turned me on was the macro button on the camera...it was a eureka moment and then I went crazy!

Nicely done Patrick, an artist's eye, and the patience and skill to make quality set of images, I particularly like the delicate threads in the final one.
