Default The Hoh Rain Forest

The Hoh Rain Forest

Hall of Mosses Trail.
Olympic National Park, WA

Olympic National Park is absolutely amazing. There are three distinctive ecosystems in Olympic: Coastal, Rain Forest, and Mountain Peaks. If you have a full day to commit to it you can actually see all of the different ecosystems. I took this picture just off of the Hall Of Mosses trail in the Hoh Rain Forest. Believe it or not there is actually a scientific term for the phenomena you see in the picture. Its called a nurse log, when a dead tree falls over new trees will grow up and around the log.

Thanks for looking

Love the feeling of mystery that this shot gives. Must have been an awesome trip. Hope you post more from it. (Off to peek at your flickr and see if I find some there)
