Hiya folks! My best friend in the world, who moved across the country a few years back, was here for a visit for a few days I was able to bulldoze her into sitting for me. My light wasn't firing right and my kids were over my shoulder yapping for her attention, so yes, I know it's overexposed, but I still love this portrait of her! :-)
We drove around CT for a while and stopped here at Union Cemetery in Easton, CT. It's oldest graves date back to the 17th century and it's just amazing to walk through. I'm posting my favorite photo of it, both in color and black and white - I can't decide which one I like better, but for some reason I'm leaning toward the color one (maybe because I finally exposed the sky correctly, which is something I've been struggling with!). An interesting article about the somewhat famous and supposedly haunted Union Cemetery can be found here. Thanks as always for looking and commenting! ![]() ![]()

This is a lovely portrait. Not surprising for someone who you call friend, but she has kind eyes, don't you think? Regarding the two photos. Roger Ebert, the movie critic, has influenced my thinking here. The first, in color, is a lovely photo of Union Cemetry. I especially like the light falling on the gravestones. The second is every cemetery--could be anywhere, in any country, even, and in that sense is familiar and timeless.

Susan, I like your friend's portrait. If it's overexposed, it's not by much, but I don't care. I think it looks great, and its worthy of a best friend. I like the color version of the cemetery. The B&W in this case is just too stark.

You did an outstanding job on your friends portrait Susan. I really like the lighting and the colors are subdued as well. Very nice... I can't decide which of the graveyard I like more. Both are really good in their own ways.

Susan....go into curves and bring down the whites a tad. I think that should work just fine. Nice old cemetery shots! When I looked at it the first thought that came to mind was "Sistersssssss!" From the movie "Hocus Pocus".
