Default Crazy kayakers take on a rough sea ..............

It was a rough sea with 3 metre swells in Cook Strait but that didn't stop people. You can see the white caps in that first shot.

First these two kayakers went out, with no life jackets, then around the rocks to wherever - people on the shore were saying they were crazy and I agree - the winds were strong as can be seen on the top of the waves. Caught them here on top of a wave - they just kept disappearing.

Using my VR 70-200mm on all shots here.

Kayakers

Then at Lyall Bay the surfers were out next to the airports - favourite spot for surfing.

Surfing at Lyall Bay

Followed by a ferry leaving the entrance to Wellington Harbour and out into the rugged Cook Strait - you can see the impact of the swell here

Entering Cook Strait

and finally the waves coming from all directions and crashing over the rocks.

Bern, looking at all your shot here on Dps, it really makes me want to visit your beautiful country. Your shots are always incredible they show so much of the beauty of your wonderful country. These are awesome they really show the power of the sea but in the next breath they show beauty aswell and thats a hard thing to get in a image. Keep the good work up bernz, thanks for sharing.

Thanks Steve - yes they were and further down south there were 4 who went out in similar conditions and have been reported as missing. Don't know if they have landed and not told anyone yet. Concern for Dunedin kayakers - national | Stuff.co.nz Cheers, Bernz

Great Captures Bernz! I'm a Kayaker and I would never go out even in calm weather without a life vest! They are not just Crazy, but Stupid! I know how difficult even moderate weather can be when you are out on the sea. So I'll brainless and clueless to the Stupid comment.
Great action shot on the surfer! and the last shot is wonderful!
Thanks for sharing these
Michael.

I am a bit jealous of the scenery you have in front of you......I'd be taking pictures, sunning, and swimming and then I'd go find a golf course to finish the day and then go back for a sunset shoot....see, I have got it all planned out!
