Default Big Red

Wall Art: Twenty One (Big Red)

Well its seems I can't get here often enough as the time I do spend viewing photos is mostly over on Flickr. I have enjoyed connecting with a few of you over there. A lot of my time shooting over the summer has been shooting the murals we have in our fair city. I might need to come back a bit more often for some inspiration on what to shoot indoors as over the initial six months I have seldom done that. With winter settling in I can't see myself getting out to shoot that often but time will tell.

What a beautiful work of art. You live in a wonderful place. Be sure to share some snow shots with those of us farther south.

Default Story behind the mural.

Well some of them have a story and others you just have to imagine what the artist is portraying like in all art. This here mural is of Adam Beach an Aboriginal actor that hails from Winnipeg. I am not to familiar with movies as I don't go that often the mural depicts several of the roles he did in movies.
The artist is Charlie Johnston who is a Winnipeger who has done numerous murals within the city.

@Lorraine Thanks so much. I do appreciate the comments. I will do my best to try and post more often here. Its a great community.

@Cye this would be one of my favorites in the city.

@Sheriliz The city is wonderful I think in that its not overly huge but has its ammenities one being a fairly vibrant arts community. Of course we have our issues one of those being street grafitti which mars a lot of public and private property. These murals are put up to combat this as most people will respect a piece of art painted on a wall.

I really like the mural art that one sees around the place. They brighten up a rather dull grey concrete jungle. Unfortunately, here in some parts of NZ they get destroyed by "tagging" (and am sure NZ isnt the only place this happens!). Thanks for sharing this shot. Its awesome.

Default Winnipeg Mural

Wall Art: Fifty Two

Any suggestions on how to work this the best way for those of you that are here more often or have hung out here more. Is it preferable to keep these all in a stream or to submit a new thread each time. Any ideas from the mods.

Great capture on the murals. I recognized Adam Beach right away. I believe the depiction of him in camo gear is from Windtalkers,
