Default That Rainy Day Feeling

NorthShoreDrive.2.small

This shot was taken on a recent trip to Hawaii. We were driving back to Honolulu from Sunset Beach one late sunny afternoon when a sudden rainstorm took us from daylight to dark in almost the wink of an eye. Fortunately I was a passenger and I snapped this scene as we were rounding a curve along the North Shore. I had to use a high ISO but it cleaned up nicely in Adobe. I also used an Ocean Ripple Filter to restore a sense of what the scene would would have looked like through our windshield had not the wipers been in overdrive.

As a matter of fact, we passed some poor souls who walking alongside the road and they were getting soaked. It was about a 45 minute drive back to the tunnel that gets on the other side of the mountains and the best I remember the rain was gradually tapering off and by the time we came out the other side it was just as you said...steamy and at least partially still in daylight. The tunnel pretty much marks a dividing line. The temperature is always 10 degrees cooler on the north side of it and the rain often stops there as well.
