Default Great Dixter-Sussex,UK

For years and years I had wanted to visit the famous house and garden in Sussex,UK-'Great Dixter'.
Great Dixter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For my mum's 83rd birthday, I booked us into a beautiful, small country hotel and from there we drove the 2 and a half hours through windy roads to pay our homage-mum is a great gardener and we were both excited.

When we finally arrived,it was a shock to see the 'typed paper' notice on the entrance ticket booth-'Shut for a 'Friends of Dixter Open Day'. Whattttttttttttttt?
I took a stroll to talk to someone about the 'surprise' exclusion and the fact that it was a special visit. An extremely lovely young gardener went off and came back to say,'We can let you into the gardens but not the house'.
'Rock on Tommy!' was my reply. What a gent.

Here are some pictures of the blooms.

DOUBLET..............can't name this but it reminds me of the doublet worn by people from the Elizabethan age.

Hi Mike..............agree totally-I rarely take 'no' for an answer. If they'd put the 'notice' up on the website we'd have planned for another day! Mum loved the place-really small but such a beautiful combination of flowers in the borders.I'll have a look at your post.

A great thank you to Tommy for being so gracious to you and your mom. I have never seen a doublet, so this was a treat for me. A wonderful set and thanks for sharing.

Hi Mike-it certainly was a wonderful moment when he came back and gave us the 'welcome' answer!! My mum is so lovely and it meant a lot to see the beauty of the gardens. Thank you for the lovely comments.
