Default No way out

I took this picture while on vacation in South Africa. My wife and I were brousing the many gift and antique shops which line the main street of the cozy little town of Kalk Bay, South Africa. I noticed a sign which read "Employees Only" before an open doorway. I was immediately drawn to the feeling of darkness the narrow hallway to nowhere portrayed. The Antlers of the dead antelope on the wall to the left, the stairs leading up to a blank wall to the right and the only source of light a sealed window offering "No way out" I took three different angles of the shot with my Nikon D90, which I newly acquired just prior to the trip. Although I am at a beginner state and still learning how to use the camera. I was quite happy with how the picture, taken in Auto, with the flash turned off, turned out without any editing.

Hey, I like that! You have good eyes for seeing drama in common places. The narrowness of the room with the play of streaming light dispelling the shadows is great. And it's rare to get a good shot like this on auto without either blowing out highlights or losing all your defining detail in the shadows. You might be able to make it even better with some editing but that's up to you. Keep up the good work. You are off to a great start.

Welcome to DPS....this room definitely has a feeling of dark and dreery....I wouldn't want to be there.
