Default Artifacts?

I was told this picture contained too many artifacts and was unsuitable for enlargement because of either too much post-production work, or from being saved too many times. This was essentially right out of the camera and not subjected to PhotoShop or other post-production work.

Am I missing something here? This was taken with a 400mm lens, 1/250 shutter speed, f/25 w/ -1.33 stop and flash. Canon EOS 50D

Hello and welcome to DPS, I can't see a problem with your picture apart from it be cropped too tight, there is plenty of detail in it and the Canon EOS 50D is a great camera with a serious 15+ megapixel resolution. I'll be looking forward to seeing more of your work in due course
