Smile The Lonely Birthday Party

I upgraded my D40 to a D90 a few days ago and bought a 50mm f1.8 finally to go with it so I've been messing around with those, and trying some more Photoshop techniques too!

Any feedback on here or on Flickr much appreciated
(And no, it's not my birthday!)

I see you appreciate not only a good image but a good idea. You have great graphic sensibilities. Your first photo is a fine example. Your use of balloons to repeat the pattern in the pillow is a visual delight. Even the simple left tilt of the pillow and the right tilt of your shoes, creates another circular space and that helps the photo. You tried to create a mood and you succeeded. Very nicely done!

I really like the second shot - I'm going to have to remember that next time I photograph a birthday party!
