Default Whisper in the moonlight

Just standing in the darkness waiting for the sunrise I heard a faint whisper of a whoosh in the air. Quickly turning and raising the camera I was able to capture this image before it faded into the night.

Nice shot. Very well composed, and good reflexes! I love the green tones in the background, contrasted by the very sharp detail of the white feather. Thanks for sharing!

When I saw this on your Flickr site, I wondered about the time of day and whether it was as quiet as it appeared. Your whispered "whoosh" is a nice answer. You know, Fred, this is one of those photos that conveys larger meanings than "bird on the wing". Here I'm thinking "Peace" or "In darkness, hope". If you hadn't guessed, I really love this photo.

Truly fantastic, Fred. You can't just turn and get a shot like this unless you've prepared your camera beforehand with the proper settings. That's the mark of skill. Well done.

Thanks equilution, this photo is a good example of showing the differences in monitors. When I see this on the calibrated monitor where I work on photos I see a hint of green in the background, which is what I liked. When looking on the laptop and moving the screen a little bit I can see most of the background, which I don't like. Seeing that makes me wonder how everyone else views the photos they see.

Thanks lindy, I had stopped for a moment to listen in the darkness to try to pick up any sounds I could hear, when I heard the whoosh in the night.

Thanks Mike, I try to have the camera set to take this type of shot as I am walking into an area in the mornings. They don't all turn out as good as this one, but sometimes it all comes together to get a good shot.

Thanks jennie, these type of shots don't always work out for me but this time I did get lucky.
