Thanks! I was fiddling around with the color and didn't like what I was getting. Then it hit me what a contrast fall colors and winter colors really are and wallah! At any rate, thanks again.

Really great job! Can you let me in on how you can isolate one object to have one color ? What software do you use to do this? I often see this and wonder how I can do it.....thanks.

"Really great job! Can you let me in on how you can isolate one object to have one color ? What software do you use to do this? I often see this and wonder how I can do it.....thanks" (Sorry, I forgot to hit the quote button. I'm so silly!) I use Photo Shop CS3, but I used to do selective color with Photo Shop 6. You can do selective color with about any image editing software that allows you to create layers. Now, I am not an expert, which should encourage everyone. This little digital trick is fairly easy to pull off. In PS, take your original image and make a background copy in layers. Layer/Duplicate Layer. A dialog box will pop up and ask what to name the new layer. Name it what you like or just hit OK. Then with that copy, select image/adjustments/desaturate. This will make your copy monochrome. I usually go back to image/ adjustment/ Bright-contrast and adjust the monochrome image a smidgen to increase the contrast to taste. (I'm an old B&W guy, I like a little more contrast.) Now you can select the Eraser Tool and "erase" the monochrome portion of the copy to reveal the color below. After you get all finished with your work of digital art/magic. You will need to go up to Layers/ Flatten Image. This will merge your layers and you be ready to save as a Jpeg or TIFF or what ever. If you save before flattening, no big deal, your image will either be saved as a PSD or if you force a jpeg, the software will prompt you to flatten your image. Don't be offended, it's not insulting your image. ![]() That's about it in a nut shell. Of course that's a Photo Shop nutshell. Other programs may very slightly. To the DP School community: If I have left out an important step or miss lead in some way, please feel free to straighten me out. ![]() Good luck and I hope to see a selective color work from you soon!
