As mentioned in my last SYS post, here are some photos that had a little extra work put into them.
![]() Our new house, at night. I want to redo this with a tripod instead of a turtle pool (cropped out), more lights on and slightly shorter exposure. That and maybe an earlier longer exposure for the sky that I can try swapping out. ![]() I know everyone has a selective colour shot. Now I do too. Since I saw this swing when we moved in a month ago I knew I wanted to do this shot. I'm reasonably happy with how it turned out - I followed Helen Bradley's excellent LR2 tutorial on this site to accomplish it. ![]() Diptych. Was going to be a Triptych, but I didn't like the photo I got for the center, it just worked better this way. It's going to be a gift for Norm and Amanda, great friends of ours. Norm just lost 3 of his fingers to a sawblade last month, so I wanted to give them something cheerful, while letting me practice as a photographer. ![]() Tryptich of my daughter at dance class. I know the center photo is out of focus, and yes, I softened the other photos and reduced the saturation of all of them. The light was really bad and I had a hard time getting good shots. I saw these beside each other in my LR folder and decided they might look nice. This is probably Rev 1.0 - I want to edit margin sizes a bit so that I can make these shots just a teensy wider. Both the Tryptich and Diptyich are also compliments of a tutorial series on DPS, I think they may also be by Helen Bradley, but I'm not sure. Either way, this post really is an essay on how DPS has helped me as a photographer - all of these shots were inspired by tutorials found here, from night shooting (which I'm improving at steadily), the selective colour and the multi-capture prints. Thanks DPS - you guys all rock. Contributers and Commenters alike are constantly helping me to improve my photography! |

Great shots, Sup! Can you send me a link to the selective color tutorial? Thanks, and keep up the great work!

Hey, thanks for the compliment.
The selective colour tutorial I used was this one: Highlight Color Effect in Lightroom, by Helen Bradley The triptych tutorial I used was: Creating a Tryptich in Lightroom, by Helen Bradley I'm not sure which night photography tutorial I first used to get me started on that, but the Lightroom tutorial that I adapted my standard workflow from is this one: Simple Image Fixing Workflow in Lightroom Hope that might help someone. See - I really am inspired by this site!

Just a quick note on this, currently Lightroom 3 is in free beta. You can go to adobe.com and sign up to download it. I'm currently using it and it's stellar so far. It's free until the beta expires which is April 2010 as far as I know.
