Hi - not sure if you were looking for a C&C, but I like the first shot very much. What would have been better, particularly being an engagement shot, is having them change sides, and rather that seeing her right had clearly, you get the left had (with the rock).
Nicely done, though.

Great first effort but the C&C person has a valid point or maybe these shots are in the collection rather than in here with share your shots either way this is a great start for you well done....

Thanks for all the compliments. They definitely help boost confidence.
As for the C&C, I don't mind suggestions or thoughts. I appreciate the advice as I didn't even think to get a shot like that. I'll definitely have to remember that for future shoots. |

Getting the ring in the shot, where practical, is what helps people to know it's an "engagement" picture, rather than just a shot of couple. It's not to say that the ring in every shot is what you're looking to do, however, you do want to "feature" the ring here and there. Shots my wife has taken in the past include getting them holding hands with the ring in focus - maybe shooting up from the ground, with the couple kissing up above - using a shallow-ish DOF. The ring becomes the subject of the photo, backed up by romance. Of course, it's not one the couple will choose for display, but the bride tends to like it very much and is a very romantic shot. Still, a nice shot for a first go.
