So, today's project was to shoot things I don't normally gravitate to. Or at least to try to use the borrowed lens in a different way.

Awesome work! I love how the background turned out. The hole in flower is very slick...how the background comes through! As a bonus, a little bit of bokeh in the second one! Stellar...yet another reason to get that lens. Would you hate me if I told you I was getting one? I think I'm going to trade in my 105 on one...if I can find someone that actually has it in stock! I'll come to you for lessons on using it!

Yes, I was testing it to see what it did for background effects, and I liked what I saw! I will only hate you for a little while, but I'll get over it
Seriously, I don't see how anyone can be without this lens. Though I still find focusing a challenge - I can't speak to AF, because i don't use it, but I've read that it can be a little tricky if you're going from one end of the focal range to the other.

You are getting some cool backgrounds with that lens. Or is the the post processing?
I like what you've done with these. Thanks for sharing these Michael.

Martha, these are beautiful. The bokeh is awesome in all of the images and your focus is perfect. I love the way the background bokeh is peeking through the broken petals in the second frame. You're doing a wonderful job with the lens. Keep up the great work! I'm sure you don't want to give it back anytime soon. I have to admit, it is my dream lens too! ... maybe someday!

Excellent work Martha. I think we're enjoying that lens almost as much as you are.
