Default Finally...bee wings frozen in time! Project done!

Was goofing off today in my wife's basil patch out front, trying not to get sent to the emergency room with multiple stings. I've been trying to freeze bee's wings in flight. I think I finally got it. I was using my 105mm micro with SB-800 flash. What's neat is that I can sync the flash at any shutter speed. I was using 1/8000th (not a typo...eight thousandth) of a second shutter, iso800, and f/3.5. As chance would have it, the basil flower and bee were the exact same distance from me when I clicked the shutter, giving me a multi-subject macro shot. "Frozen bee wings.....check!"

Now...onto bigger and better things...

What could be bigger and better than that? That's AWESOME! An incentive for me to actually try using a flash.

Excellent. Someday I hope to capture a shot just as good.

Thanks, Martha! I've seen your macro work, and I can only aspire! Regarding the flash, you've got a great eye for natural light! If it aint broke, don't fix it! Give it a whirl with one of those grasshoppers you've got! They've got a pretty big wing-span! That'd be spectacular frozen!

Thanks for the compliment, wunterb! Keep shooting! This was one lucky shot out of about 30! Kind of like that old work ethic adage...the more I shoot, the luckier I get!
