Default Miramar Airshow

I attended the Miramar Airshow yesterday at the Marine Corps Air Station in San Diego. It was a partly cloudy day and challenging for photography. Not too mention the crowds!!

Here's a few of the shots I was happy with.

nothing wrong with clouds...

the last two are best in my opinion

i like the second last one because it fills a lot of the frame.

Nice shots. I agree that the last two are my favorite. Excellent shots for what must have been a challenging day. It's tough to get good exposure on a sunny airshow day...it's doubly tough when the clouds come in to wreak havoc on the contrast.

I went to the Mirarmar Airshow in 2005 and had a blast. I don't know if I was just imagining it, but the flight line seems closer than at other airshows. I hope to go back some day...the problem is that it is normally on the weekend of my wedding anniversary and I live in New York.

Nice shots! I'm a sucker for air show shots! I just shot 5300 pics at the Reno Air Races a few weeks ago, including a bunch of the Blue Angels. Thanks for sharing!

That's funny, I just moved back to San Diego from Rochester. They have a nice air show up there as well near the airport. I got some great shots of the Thunderbirds there a year ago.

Thanks for you kind comments. The most challenging part was the rude bystanders that wouldn't let me get my shots!!

That is funny, what are the odds of that? Yes, Rochester has a good airshow...when they have it. If they can't get a "big name" they just cancel it. This year we had the Canadian Snowbirds and they moved it to Charlotte beach. It was less than exciting. Sure it was nice to have a wide area to shoot from, but there was nothing to do at the park between acts. All of the service branches had recruiters and there were food booths, but part of the airshow experience is the statics.

I've been to the airshow at Niagara Falls AFB, and one of these years I'll get down to Geneseo for the warbirds airshow that they do every year. My dream is to go to Oskosh. Maybe when the kids are grown (2 more months until they're born).
