Playing around with flash, trying to balance in manual mode a while back, I managed to get my daughter to sit still for half an hour while she was watching something on TV. She still wasn't happy (as you can see from the first shot), but I did get one shot that I really like out of the session, and she even likes it too, which is a result.





I still need to practice balancing flash in manual mode though...

The exposure in the second one is very good IMHO. Your daughter has beautiful eyes, they would be the point of my focus.
BTW, my family gets the same way when I have the camera in my hands.

Great shot! It's amazing that more kids don't run away of embarrassment. Speaking of blackmail, I've got one of my son when he was 3...tried to dress up as spiderman. He had spiderman pajamas, but couldn't find the the spiderman mask...so he used a pair of his spiderman underwear on his head, with his face poking through one of the leg holes. He fell asleep that way, and I took a snap. Thankfully, the underwear was clean! If I can find the pic, I'll post it! Classic blackmail stuff.
