Default Ghost Bike Cleveland Ohio Rip Sylvia Bingham

I posted a shot of this Ghost bike in the contrast Assignment and just felt like sharing the rest.

For anyone that doesn't know what a GB is...

"Ghost Bikes are small and somber memorials for bicyclists who are killed or hit on the street. A bicycle is painted all white and locked to a street sign near the crash site, accompanied by a small plaque. They serve as reminders of the tragedy that took place on an otherwise anonymous street corner, and as quiet statements in support of cyclists' right to safe travel."

Here is Sylvias Page if you'd like to know more about her incident. Sylvia Bingham | ghost bikes

In short she seemed like an amazing 22 yr old working here in Cleveland to promote a greener life working for Hardhat Women of America. She also just graduated from Yale this year.

WOW people get hit on bikes there?????
Around here I don't think we have had anyone hit on a bike in forever!!!
At least not that I can remember.
Wait........
Ohio drivers..........
Ohhhh yeah they always drive in the left lane here in WV even when they are the slowest car.

The ghost bike is really a neat idea I have never seen anything like that before. Makes an interesting statement. I like it.
Nice captures of it.

EDIT:::

WOW hit by a Peterbuilt and the driver didn't even know he hit her!!!!!!!
No charges have been filed???? WHAT????

From the Ghost Bike page:

2 ghost bikes were installed near Buckhannon, West Virginia for Daniel Duncan and J. Cecil Jarvis in 2008.

I guess we have had 2 people get hit on bikes. They were up north about 3 1/2 hours away from Charleston. Maybe college kids that is where WV Wesleyan college is.

Yes, it's very sad.

These are coming up all around the world. I ride a bike 90% of the time I leave my house, on one hand biking in the City is VERY dangerous and shouldn't be taken lightly. On the other hand people need to be a lot more cautious while driving, under every circumstance.

I lost a good friend a couple of years ago to Drinking and Driving, since then I have quit drinking (Never really did much of it anyways) and I voice my opinion every time I have the opportunity... Please Don't Drink and Drive, consider your loved ones and others you may injure or kill... Even when you think you're "Ok to drive" Call a Cab, Family member, Friend, ask a stranger even and if you have to, walk.

Life is short, hug your loved ones and tell them how much they are loved.

Thanks for the responses and taking the time to check this out.

Love to all, no exceptions.

Frank
