My wife and I hired a friend and mentor of mine to do a maternity shoot for us. We shot at Hixon Falls, British Columbia - about 40 mins drive from our town of Quesnel.
With Tineke's permission I took some behind the scenes shots of the maternity shoot, I'm sharing two that worked out. Also, I have 2 shots of the waterfall that I took that are my favourites. Now - the disclaimer. The shots are blurry. I planned on taking my point and shoot, but the battery was dead so I ended up w/ my borrowed DSLR. In my head though I was still using my P&S and I dead forgot that I had to manually focus. (I turned AF off on the Olympus as it uses the flash to AF assist - and is super annoying.) That said, I wanted longer exposures, and so often my aperature was high, so the depth of field was greater, allowing more of my pictures than I thought to work out. Out of about 100 I ended up with almost 10 that were worth keeping. ![]() My wife posing for Tineke. This one is very blurry. Pictures taken of course with permission - I'd never intrude on a photoshoot without it. ![]() A better, sharper image. Tineke posing Samantha for a shot. ![]() One of my two favourite shots of the falls that I got. ![]() The other of my two favourite shots of the falls. I ended up with more keepers of the falls as the distance was closer to the manual focus the camera was set to. I feel stupid about my newb mistakes, but I learned things. a) Check the focus - always! b) I was spot on every time I took pictures of the falls. I was able to get my shutter speeds, aperature values and exposure times correct for what I was going for every time - I guess I have been learning things. |
