Default In Praise of the Screen Door

Nothing moves in a straight line,
But in arcs, epicycles, spirals and gyres.
Nothing living grows in cubes, cones, or rhomboids,
But we take a little here and we give a little there,
And the wind blows right through us
,

Excerpt from "I Saw Her Dancing" by Marge Piercy

In Praise of the Screen Door

Ever leave the screen door open?

Hi Lindy - this is a classic image .. I can't recall the number of screen doors just like this I have seen in past .. and most of them is this color .. reminds me of a party we had at our home earlier this year for members of the family who are celebrating birthdays that ends with the number zero .. about 4hours into the party - I lost both screen doors in the basement ..

Hi Linda. That door sure has seen better days and you chose an interesting subject. You always choose the right words. Perfect!

Dave.

The screen door was such an essential growing up in the Southeast before air conditioning. Somehow we've lost the art of opening up the house, letting the air flow through and listening to the birds and the children play outside....Wait a minute, they're all inside playing their video games! Oh well, the birds are still out. This brings back so many memories on so many levels. Did you notice? At least ten coats of paint, boards separating at the top, hinge coming apart at the top, a piece of broken moulding on the bottom, a cross board missing in the center, but the door pull is bright, shiny, and new! You've just had to have had screen doors to know that with a bright, shiny, pull, it ain't abandoned!

Thumbs up Nice work

Great shot. Just so easily missed.

And as I have a week of "derelict" pix coming up, you have just fed me a great idea!

Thanks for sharing.

It looks exactly how a screen door is supposed to look .. functional and very able to slam home with that sound .. love it Lindy!
