Default Doulton Fountain (Glasgow Green) HDR

Doulton-Fountain

I went for a little walk today, and while down at glasgow green (i haven't been there for years) i noticed that the old run down fountain has been relocated and restored and placed infront of the Peoples palace.

I should get around my own city more :P

The largest terracotta fountain in the world and the best surviving example of its kind, it has five tiers, is 46 feet high and 70 feet across the base – the third of the width of a football pitch.

Yer i remember the fountain from years ago when i did some gigs at the green, it used to sit at the other side of the park and wasn't being used and looked in poor condition.

It was a pleasant surprise for me to see it looking so nice and situated in a much better location.

It was a 16mm f2.8 fish eye on FF (defished.. mostly)

I really like when I see a different take on historical monuments.
And you add some facts for us the viewers.
It not only allows us to enjoy your work but also allows our thoughts to travels back in time and wonder at the craftsmanship of the people how created the piece of art.
Thanks for sharing.
Great shot.

yea man i agree its great when that happens there is so much great achitectural neglect. They may not always be great pieces but we kindof get used to them being around and miss them when there gone. Damn dont you just hate it when things go without no record. I take shots of post boxes and just about eveyrthing like your fountain which was great that they did it up.
cheers mike
