Default Father and son P-51D formation

My father and I have shared a love of flying and aviation all my life. I wanted to show my appreciation sharing this passion with me.

For Father's Day, I took my him to Kissimmee, FL, the home of Stallion 51, to fly Crazy Horse, and Crazy Horse 2. He and I are just a handful of people in the world to have flown formation in 2 P-51D Mustangs as father and son. What an incredible day!! We were up for an hour, bouncing around the clouds. Here are a few pics from that day. I’ve got an air-to-air video that I’ll post later. I shot these using my Sony 10mgpx PnS at the time. There wasn't too much room in my flight suit for a tank like the D3. Thanks for looking.

Jim, what a unique and fantatsic fathers day gift, I can only imagine how much fun you both had.
The pictures of course are a happy consequence of the event but don't be surprised if people are queueing up to p/ex their DSLRs for Sony 10mgpx PnS's, the results are excellent.

Default Love the P-51.

Great shots, what a great experience. A fan of flight and former Staff Sgt in USAF I love the P-51, it's a great aircraft.

What a thrill to fly a P51! Even greater thrill to fly in formation with your dad! Heady, heady stuff. I can't imagine anything much better than that.

Wicked cool shots! (Goes to show what a PnS can actually do in the right hands.)

I'm insanely jealous. The P51 is one of my all time favorite aircraft. Feel free to take your dad on a similar trip with a couple of A10 Warthogs anytime!

I was fighting the canopy focus, but for the most part, I'm happy with how they turned out! Thanks for the kind words, Beach.

It was a blast! After takeoff, the PIC (pilot in command) gave us the plane. We flew the whole time, except for landing. Thanks, Hayward!

Thanks, Purp! It was a great day!

I knew I was going to be too busy that day, so I commissioned Bruce Wilson, a local photog, to record the days' events on the ground. He did a great job! We came away with some incredible memories!

Great shots! I have a soft spot for the P51. My son was part of the 51st graduating class from the AF Academy and the P51 is on their class crest. We had a flyover of these great planes at his graduation, it was thrilling. So happy you and your dad were able to share this experience. Maybe someday my son and his dad can do the same!
