Default After a day of getting soaked

Last Saturday myself and Keenlearner (Pauline-my mother-in-law) and our husbands went down to the river to test drive a boat Steve is selling. It had been raining in the morning but looked like it was clearing up so we thought we would still go down. No sooner had we gotten the boat in the water, the sky decided to open up and we ended up looking like a bunch of drowned rats in five seconds flat.

After a quick test run anyway (We were already wet so why not) we decided to come back down the following day. Here are the shots I managed to get on Sunday. The weather was overcast but at least it wasn't raining cats and dogs.

The boat we were test driving.

Boat

115 Suzuki outboard powerful enough to tow three waterskiers.

Wake behind boat

Whitebait fisherman I managed to capture as we zoomed past.

Plenty of damp action through the waterways of New Zealand and by the look of it time to invest in a waterproof container for your cameras and a couple of sets of skies.
Then we'll really get some action pictures as you and Pauline hang off the back of the boat taking pictures of the boys., yeeehaw

These are really nice shots. The boat looks like an oldy but in good condition. Is it a molded plywood?

Great captures Angela. It looks like a very nice boat and wow it can move along a bit too. I love the shot from the back of the boat and given the speed you were moving along at, the pictures of the fishermen are excellent. Great work Angela.

Dave.

Hi Angela, what an educational post, Keenlearner is your mom in law, you have a great boat. There is brown water in NZ. LOL I thought it was all blue. LOL again. And I need to know what is the fisherman catching there? Thanks

Michael

Thanks Beach, both Pauline and I enjoy going out in fast boats and feeling the wind sweep through our hair, but I'm not sure either of us are keen enough to try waterskiing. Though I would love to take shots from that angle.

Thanks Dave, I took the photos with my P&S I wasn't keen on taking the D90 out on the water. I was impressed with the way the fisherman shots came out.

Thanks Michael, Yep Pauline is my mum-in-law, we have great fun going on outings and taking photos together. The water is pretty brown, especially after the heavy rain and you have to watch out for floating logs and debris. We do have some beautiful blue/green water where we go fishing though. The fishermen are catching whitebait which is a favourite for many NZs who like seafood they are yummy in whitebait fritters.

Hi Angela, did you pick up any whitebait for me - yum, yum.

2nd shot is a great action shot - hope you were holding on to that new camera of yours or was it the old one you used here.

Cheers, Bernz

Nice looking boat. By the way, I water ski very well! I can provide tons of action shots for you to photograph. Love the scenery and great capture of the fisherman. I had no idea Pauline was your mother in law!!
