Default b&w converstion

On the weekend, a friend lent me her copy of her Photoshop Elements 6 book. Today I decided to try some of the techniques from the book...ok, so I only tried one so far, but I tried. I know it's not the best, but I am learning.

Here's what I came up with from doing the conversion to black & white following the book's directions:

I love the lighting on the flower petals. And you have nice DOF - something I always seem to lose when I do a conversion.

I didn't do any blurring - at least that I'm aware of. The background is blurred because of the f-stop I used. I just followed the step by step instructions on converting to black & white in the book my friend lent me this weekend.

Beautifully done, Shelley! The dark tones in the "tubes" really make the shot. The DOF and composition are excellent! Thanks for sharing this one!

Thanks so much! I love taking photos of flowers. It's a shame that it's fall now and they are pretty much gone. I'll have to wait until next year...or buy some at a florist...to take photos of them again.

Fabulous capture. Great DOF. I like the way the B&W treatment brings out the shadowing within each individual petal. Very well done and TFS
