Default Trying Landscapes... any help appreciated!

I have a trip to the mountains coming up, so I have been practicing landscape shots. Thought I would share the best one of the bunch. Also, any advice for getting good exposure with skies or general landscape tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for looking and for any help!

I agree in the polarizing and learn to use it. It will not help you when you shoot directly against the sun. If you buy one ask for instructions or google it.
In this shot I would have gone for a lower angle to get more foreground. The background in this picture does not add a lot to the picture.
For landscapes a tripod is a must if not then monopod. Landscape with people you know will give the pictures more value for your self and those who will travel with you. Try to get some of these as well as without people. Avoid shooting down on flowers and such, go as low as you can. For expusure for the sky, check the histogram and try to over expose without burning. It can be tricky but with a little overexposure you can in many cases get the landscape almost correct exposed and the sky also. But again use the histogram to figure out the "correct" exposure.
If you know all of this already I'm sorry for the stupid answer.

Sorry for my pour english... I could do this in Icelandic if you would prefer .

Your English is fine! I would have a hard time with Icelandic Thank you so much for all of the information. I will try the techniques you suggested for exposing the sky. I really want to get the sky correct because I think sometimes it can add a lot to the picture.

Hi Barbara,

I like this shot.

You give me the impression that you are actually standing in the water whilst taking this but you may not be - risky if you are. The exposure shows you capturing movement with the water and it is nice and soft and you can see it moving over and around the rocks.

My eyes were immediately taken to the water and the background has just added a little colour but the shot is really of the water flowing. Well done.

As to a polarized filter that is a great idea but remember to rotate it on the lense before taking the shots - you may even be better to remove it sometimes. Google it or I am sure there is some help on DPS about this type of filter.

Keep up the good work. Cheers, Bernz

Bernzfotos: Thanks for the advice on the filter. No I was not standing in the water, there was a rock that jutted out from the bank a little. I am not that daring
