Default Fall in the forest

Just got home from a few days in the mountains. Fall is just beginning in the forest. If you looked hard you could see signs of its fast approach here and there, color should be showing in another couple of weeks. Here is a shot from atop a mountain looking down on Cherry Lake. It was really breath taking to stand there and look down on the lake. (This is even prettier viewed large)

Fall is also approaching Mariposa, found hints of Fall colors here and there.

And of course this little butterfly decided to pose for me on the lavendar..

Thanks for looking.

The lake is breathtaking! I wish I could have been there with the family. Sounds like you all had tons of fun. What a beautiful view! I loved our visit to Mariposa today! It is such a lovely little town and we always have fun shooting together. I love the mix of gold, orange and green in #2. And my what big eyes you have Mr. Butterfly. He is so cute and fuzzy. Never saw this little fellow, I was to busy chasing the white ones around and trying to avoid the bees. Looking forward to San Francisco next week!

Cherry Lake is stunning, I like the colours of autumn and a butterfly enjoys the aroma of lavender. Our pictures let us all share a little of where we were and a little of what we saw, the challenge is conveying a litle of what we felt. I think you felt good

I'm jealous of you guys who have a real fall. In north Texas, our trees go from green to brown, sometimes a little yellow here and there and maybe a red sumac bush sparsely around, then all the leaves fall to the ground.

Very nice pictures!

Hi Beach. Yes the view down to the lake was really stunning, we rode motorcycles up to the top of the mountain to get that shot. It felt really good. Thank you!

I have family in Texas, but haven't made it out that way yet. We are just gearing up for the autumn colors, today was actually our first cool day, so the color should be coming soon.
We have a few trips planned to try to capture some beautiful autumn shots.
Thank you for your kind comments.

Three great images. I particularly like your first one. It is stunning. I like the dead tree in the framing. Can't tell you why, I just do...
