Default Artist

A visit to Gallery in the Sun last week. There were many of Ted DeGrazia's (the artist) things on display. There were so many photographs of DeGrazia and his life as an artist throughout the gallery. He used many different mediums in creating his artwork. I wanted to share some of his gallery with you all.

The hat that he wore in so many photographs hangs on his easel above one of his paintings.
DeGrazia's hat and easel

Next to his easel was a stool with a half a bottle of scotch
DeGrazia's drink of choice

Ted DeGrazia loved music and there were several instruments displayed in a very dimly lit room. (no flash photography allowed in the gallery)
Sound of Music

.... and this little guy was spotted outside of the gallery where more random things were hanging and on display.
Lip smackin' good

Hope you enjoy the look at an artist.

He was quite the Tucson treasure. Your choice of photos gives one a very good "snapshot" who he was. The violin shot is just terrific!

All of these shots are amazing. No flash? No worries with these photos! Great work.

Thank you Lindy. I was hoping to show him as a man, not just his artwork. I love going to the gallery, even when it is closed. It is such a beautiful and peaceful setting.

Thank you, I appreciate your kind comments. I was practicing low-light photography. What better place to go than a beautiful art gallery?

Thanks Fred! I took photos of some other instruments, but the violin was my best effort in the low light situation.

Thank you Mike! Ahhh, the Chivas! And I have a weakness for battered old hats too!

Thank you all for the kind comments on the Violin. I am submitting it for our monthly photography club at work. The subject is Sound. Wish me luck! (BTW, last contest I won first place!)

Superb use of available lighting in the first one! Proof that you don't need a studio to get studio results!! Good eye! Thanks for sharing.

PS...there seems to be a lot of us Tusconans on board here! So far, 4 that I know of: Leona, Ella, Lindyanna, and me. Any more???? We might have to have ourselves a DPS photo shoot!

Thank you! I've noticed more from Tucson also. I didn't realize you were ... "like Africa hot" kind of threw me. I'd love to get together with others from DPS and put faces with the names. That could be a lot of fun.

I'm game if someone wants to put something together. I'd do it, but I've been wicked busy lately, keeping my business afloat in this economy, and home-schooling our 3 kids. Less and less free time!

These are a beautiful tribute, and beautiful photographs in their own right. I love the violin - flashes are highly overrated, in my opinion. I don't use them It's just a personal challenge.
