Default Went to the courthouse today

There are a lot of events each week in the local courthouse square. So I went out today and took a few shots at the square and around downtown. Here are some of them, which I'm also going to present as part of my photo workshop assignment (Textures) at next week's meeting:

The side of a building where a friend lives.
Vents on a wall

The shadows of swing dancers in the square
Swinging Shadows

Tattooed dancer

Rusty, I like the textures in your first shot and also the inclusion of the louvers makes it much more interesting than it would have been without them. Very creative shot of the shadows of the swing dancers. I like the opportunity for my imagination to fill in the blanks.. I like the dichotomy of the tattoed dancer and then the finish with the bricks and tiles. very enjoyable set!

Thanks Mike. I agree that including the louvers in the first shot makes it stronger. They provide a contrasting image to the texture. And the shadows to me are fun -- I agree they leave a lot to the imagination. The tattoo dancer was one of the instructors. And the bricks and tiles were just very interesting to me. Again, the tiles provide a contrast to the bricks.

I'm on to something. Start with page 4 and move forward and that way you don't miss posts like this one! Did you say "textures"? I'm so there! Yea...these are terrific. You have to like minimalism to buy the premise but if you do, then these are really fine examples. I love the simplicity of the first.

Linda: Glad you found these. I love the workshop I've enrolled in. The instructor is great and he's really trying to strech us to see differently. And I don't think of textures as just the sides of something. I'm especially happy with the first shot in this series. And I have others that I've included below.

Thanks Hayward: Yes, the texture of that building is just awesome. It certainly caught my eye. But I think, like Mike said, the louvers really make the shot more interesting.

Here are the other photos I'm submitting to the workshop:

Swing Skirt 3

Can you see it?

Sidewalk cover

Concrete Dragon
