Fantastic shots to go with an interesting story. No wonder you are intrigued by this tree. Amazing at how clear you can still see the T intitaled into the bark. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for you comments. The story about it has intreaged me for years.Theres not an awful lot of infomation about it so it may mean a little detective work. I just wished i had taken a camera with me the first time around as the initials were more pronounced, still i am glad i did this time. cheers mike

The b/w gives it a little drama, i suppose the colour makes it more kind of peaceful as that was what i was feeling that day as opposed to previous visits. I dont shoot too many trees but doing this has enabled me to discover a few more effects when converting to greyscale thanks for commenting mike

what a fascinating story seems trees carry some greart ones such as Beddgelerts tree in North Wales waiting for Tryfan to do this one justice. Nice set and very interesting too

you know with this tree people drive by it everyday as its on a busy road, very few know of it or its history. It was most likely a gibbet tree for some time as it is stunted. I should think a tree that is as old as this 350-400 years old would be bigger. Still i shall carry on investigating. It would be interesting to see if tyfan comes up with anything that would be interesting to see thanks for your comments mike

What a great history your subject has! The sepia treatment on the 3rd shot does it for me! Such a dramatic sky on that one.

Hi Mike - what an interesting tree and the secrets it holds .. is it a landmark now or is it still out in the open - hope no one defaced it ... the presentation is very well done

Fascinating!!! I love history lessons. I wonder what other stories this tree might have to tell....and I'll bet the busy road is on the same roadbed where their bodies were viewed by passers by so many years ago...
