Default A plate of Spaghetti

So after a 20 minute session with spaghetti tonight I thought I would share the backstory and the shot.

Due to a pretty bad accident I got out of the army back in '94. While I was outprocessing I spent my final days at a recruiting battalion and long story short I met a wonderful woman. She was in the process of joining the Air Force and something clicked. It took an entire 3 weeks to ask her to marry me and another week to actually tie the knot.

When she finished tech school a long 3 months later (that's right we were actually apart longer than we'd known each other at this point) we moved to our first duty station at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. I was a struggling bachelor cook (bologna, mac & cheese, spaghetti, frozen, etc) and she was ... Let's just say I did a lot of the cooking. But, all was ok because we both loved spaghetti.

Continuing our firsts (I left out above that our first date was me making us spaghetti), when we arrived at Hill we lived out of a TLF (Temporary lodging facility) for the first week or so. Think hotel room with a small kitchen. The first night there we had spaghetti. A few years later we went overseas and after that grueling flight, customs, in-proc briefing and finally getting to our new home we made spaghetti. Now, every time we've moved it's become tradition to make spaghetti and tonight was just that. Our eighth spaghetti dinner that I actually immortalized in pixels.

So, God bless to our brothers and sisters in arms. I can only hope you have a plate of spaghetti waiting for you (or other equally satisfying tradition). This is my off-beat salute to the people and country I love. Moreso, it's a dedication to a wonderful woman who will always be a hero in my book and I'll always be thankful for.

wow .. so romantic .. i loved the idea behind the photo ...

and i loved the photo .. if u just used someting like a tissue infront of the light .. or a white plastic bag just to diffuse the light so u can soften the shadow .. it would have been a lot better ..

A very nice concept....i like the first one better...
The color of spaghetti differs in both photos, in the first one it looks much better.....try correcting white balance to make it better in the second one.
Good work

What a wonderful tribute to those who are serving and have served as well as a wonderful tribute to your wife. May you always have spaghetti in your life.
