Default More dust, more smoke

Yesterday afternoon another dust storm blew up and with it smoke from grass fires, so I rushed out to take pictures.

Dust and smoke-1

I really must get myself an N grad filter

Dust and smoke-2

as the sun got lower in the sky it became more obscured by the atmosphere

Dust and smoke-3

and even before the sun set you could no longer see it. This is one of the last pictures I could take of it, within a few seconds you could no longer see it.

Dust and smoke-4

Hi Michele - these dust storms is wreaking havocs in your part of the world .. are these seasonal occurances or something that just happened ... from what I see in the news here, its very serious .. I hope you're on the safe side of all these ..

Michelle, These photos are haunting and erie. I love your first two photos with the sun shining on the tips and edges of the grass. I'm trying to imagine the layers of dust on everything. I can almost feel the grit.

Hi Haywood, I keep seeing how 'dangerous' it is too, but no dust storms are something that happens whenever it is particularly dry. The wind is blowing over central Australia and dumping top dressing on absolutely anything and everything around. So all I can say is it is very inconvenient because everything (outside and inside) is covered in dust and must be cleaned away.

I can feel the grit Lindy, it is on everything!! because I went out to take photos yesterday I can fell the grit in the lens when I move it, I can also feel the prickles in my butt because I sat down in the wrong place. You would suffer from dust storms too, wouldn't you?

So sorry about all the dust, but they do make for some awesome shots. These are really beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
