Default A few of my better close up shots.

Hi, my name is Jeff, I'm an amateur relatively new to the hobby, but I really enjoy taking macro shots. Here are some of my better ones. Some were taken with simple point and shoots and a some were taken with my new Evolt 420. I enjoy nature and I'm hoping to become a better photographer.

Thanks for looking.

Hi Jeff and welcome ... these are amazing images .. did you use a tripod on the first 3photos? .. if not, you have one of the sturdiest hands in the business .. very clear and very well photographed ... wow

Awesome macro, these are really, really good. How on earth did you get the dragonfly to stay on your finger long enoght to fire the shots off?

Oh & welcome to dps, enjoy your stay.

Excellent macro shots, is the dragonfly dead? or did you put DF bait on your finger. The bee is excellent. Job well done

Thanks for the comments! Those are all handheld shots. So, thanks for the kind words!

However, I recently picked up a table top tripod and started carrying in my back pack just in case, a Bogen that I used to use with my camcorder as well as the table top.

The Damselflies that I photograph are really easy to catch with a little kiddie bug net, and I VERY delicately hold on to them with my thumb and forefinger making sure not to squeeze too hard that I hurt them. They seem to have a lot of personality for an insect, I think.

Now, I just need to purchase a dedicated macro lens and a telephoto of some sort.

My everyday carry camera is an Olympus 1010 (10.1mp) and my DSLR is an Olympus E-420 with their standard 14-42mm kit lens as of now.

Love them and how trusting of the insects. Great job.
