When first looking at it I though something like moving the candle or using a long handled lighter, but they just didn't look right for either of those. It looks the the path that smoke would follow if someone or something continued blowing after the flame went out, and that reminded me of something that I read a long time ago when I was a kid that you could relight a candle by holding the flame to the smoke right after blowing it out. It even looks like there is a large amount of fire on the right side of the picture.

Thanks a lot for you guesses friends... A special thanks to Thanatoz and Arvind for the correct guess
![]() Yes I kept the candle idle, camera was on with slow shutter speed(15 secs), then fired the match and moved it towards the candle and finally fired it....As I fired the match at right top end, you can see the little bright fire there.... Let me show the original.... What do you think???? you can see my moving hands... When I saw this first time, I was not much impressed... But after some PP, it has become enough worth to post here... the simple PP works I have done on Picasa are, I'm feeling lucky -> Saturation -> Shadows(a bit more ). Thats it...I'm so happy with all of your guesses and got new ideas also...Especially the gas spray idea. Any of you ever tried it????Thanks a lot to all of you for your kind supports... Cheers... -Raveen |

Good shot. Figured you did something with long shutter and moving the lighting source or the fire itself.
As for the gas blowing, don't use actual gas, might end up badly. Here's what to do (never seen photograph's, I'm sure people on flickr have done it though)Try using some Axe or Tag (any kind of cheep body spray you can buy at local walmart or such that you can hold down the button and it sprays continuously) and then do what kids would do with paper (make a long stick/log type form where you could see through it) and then either have your candle or a ligther at the end of it (making sure you DO NOT light the paper) and hold down the sprayer on the body spray. Make sure you got some water handy, just in case it lights anything, it will burn out fast though, and not too bad, but wouldn't want any burn stains on the carpet or wall or anything. Hehe that turned out really cool. I like the original photo too, the motion is great it tells the story of the photo.
Now i really want to try the gas idea... That could result in some interesting shots.. and some singed eyebrows too lol
