Default Golden Gate National Cemetery

Part of today's shoot was an all-too-hurried visit to Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno. It's a sobering thought that over 135,000 veterans are buried there.

This shot popped into the viewfinder as I was scanning the grounds with my camera:

Headstones 1

I visited the cemetery because I knew that it would have strong geometry and prominent lines. We got there an hour before closing time (going there was a spur-of-the-moment idea), so we didn't have time to wander around and find the really compelling lines. I'll have to go back. In the meantime, I liked this one:

Still in Formation

Not trying to make a political statement with these shots. Rather, what strikes me in these shots is the emotion. I also discovered it wasn't as easy as I imagined it would be to find The Shot ™.

Thanks for looking.

That first shot is very awesome. I probably wouldn't have noticed that the main marker in focus had anything to do with photography until I got it home and dropped it onto the computer. Good eye. Both of these shots are just spectacular.

jamfke, I'd love to take credit, but, alas, I didn't realize the marker had anything to do with photography until I got home.

The first shot is particularly good IMO and a sobering reminder of those that have fallen, and most likely those that are still likely to fall in Afghanistan.

Sometimes the most meaningful shots are accidental shots. Love them both.

Nice. I liked how the first shot went from semi-blur to sharp to blur.

I'm certainly glad that first one wanted to be shot and made it's way to your view finder! It's awesome!
